British Stickmakers Guild

Countryman's Walk, west of the Grand Ring
Organised by Alan Bradshaw
Rosettes sponsored by Heart of England Craftworkers
Champion of Champions class sponsored by Mr Dafydd W. Davies, Stickmaking Supplies

The BSG was formed in 1984 by a small group of stickmakers who felt that the many people practising this old craft, usually on their own, should be able to further their interest through a national organisation. The BSG is also frequently invited to attend various events throughout the summer, such as Chatsworth Country Fair, at which we run the BSG National Stickmaking Competition.

FRIDAY and SATURDAY - Displays and stickmaking demonstration.

SUNDAY - The national competition at the Chatsworth Country Fair has, over the years, become the best attended stickmaking competition in the country. The competition includes 14 main classes for the experienced stickmaker and 4 novice classes. These are classes for anyone who has not entered any stickmaking competition before the 1st January 2009.

This is just one of the shows that is involved in the British and UK National Stickmaking Competition. Once again we are running a class for the winners of the sticks that had been judged to be best “Stick in Show” in the British and UK National Stickmaking Championship 2009. These winners are eligible to enter their stick in a class that has been named Champion of Champions, and this class is run annually at Chatsworth.

JUDGE: Mr Dane Love of Cumnock, Ayrshire
