Chatsworth Country Fair 2010

Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th September

Aerobatics Display

Overhead ... with Stephen Carver and Gary Ferriman

These are two of England’s most experienced aerobatics pilots, and their flying has been thrilling us at Chatsworth for some years now. They have graciously given way to the Red Arrows on the Friday, but will be with us again for Saturday and Sunday, so long as the weather permits.

Steve has been grounded for some time in early 2010, and so they have not been able to fly as much duo practice as they would like. They will be performing a succession of solo aerobatic manoeuvres over about fifteen minutes, and we hope that what they do won’t put you off your next holiday flight!

These two German-built aircraft are an Extra 230 and an Extra 260. Both are the engineering offspring of all-round good guy Mr Walter Extra. Stressed to +/- 10g and with a roll rate of over 360°/sec, the Extras are composite aircraft and have a top speed of around 250 mph. The pilots are Midlands-based. Gary is now 60 and runs a very successful 4x4 business. He has amassed close to 3,000 hours flying over thirty years and has been British Advanced Aerobatic Champion far too many times. Steve is 48, has logged over 10,000 hours and is a Type Rating Examiner on the Embraer 145 regional jet.
