Chatsworth Country Fair 2011
Saturday 3rd September only
Scurry Driving
Grand Ring, twice on Friday and Saturday, once on Sunday.
Friday: Smalls Class and Top Score
Saturday: Large Class and Top Score
Sunday: Midday Championship
Exciting, fast, skilful and colourful entertainment for all the family, scurry driving requires a pair of ponies being driven at speed and against the clock through a course of ‘gates’ made from cones which have a ball perched on the top. If a ball is dislodged then there are time penalties to add to the total score. Easy to follow, easy to understand and appreciated by people of all ages including those who have no working knowledge of horses. Always a crowd pleaser and a sport in which we encourage the spectators to shout and cheer for their personal favourites!
The Scurry Driving Association is the National body of the sport and annually selects drivers to compete abroad to represent the UK. Some of these drivers of International experience have become household names along with their international pony pairs. The picture above is of Robert Lightwood driving Song & Dance.
